Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She's also an accomplished public speaker. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency a website that includes videos and comments on portrayals of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. She is the founder and director of executive for Feminist Frequency A scholarly, non-profit website that explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. Destroying stereotypes about women are her primary goals. But, she also explores the issue of targeted harassment against women online and other minorities which have been excluded. Sarkeesian, who holds an MA in Political and Social thought at York University, is a well-known public speaking. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. She was fascinated by the gender issue and feminist movements since a young time. In 2009, while still studying at university she launched the Feminist Frequency website. She had a plan to launch an internet series on the role of gender in games but was the target of an online campaign to harass her. Her determination was not slowed by the harassment, the fact is that it only bolstered her drive to become a media critic and feminist. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards for her numerous significant contributions to the world of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winning media critic and the creator of Feminist Frequency an educational nonprofit which studies the portrayals of women in popular culture narratives.
